Iowa is a beautiful place. I don't know if I believed that before Trenton took me there for the first time over eight years ago- but it truly is. Linsey's parents did such a beautiful job organizing the weekend for their daughter and son in-law. The first night of celebration was at the Isaac Walton League on a tree farm. After a long day of traveling, the kids loved having so much lush grass to run wild in. They had a huge fire pit and a hotdog bar, with every topping you could imagine. And of course, we enjoyed being surrounded by family.
Emma and Ben loved staying in the hotel (or ho-in-tell, as Emma calls it.) Ben's favorite part was that he got to sleep with us, and the complimentary breakfast in the mornings. And no trip to Marshalltown would be complete without Taylors Maid-Rite sandwiches- dry, with pickles, mustard and absolutely no ketchup. I think my favorite part of our time in Iowa was when we went to Matt and Ruzan's. As you can see- it was a summer wonderland.
The reception was fun. They had yummy Mexican food and a band. The last time we were all together in Iowa, it was for a funeral. These circumstances were infinitely better. There's no greater cause for celebration than a marriage, except maybe for a baby. And we had both...it was a good night.
There are few things better than sitting with your toes in the grass and watching your babies run wild with watermelon stained faces.
Have skirt, will twirl.
