Estes Park

Laurie took both kids and two of my nieces to Iowa to visit with Trenton's Grandparents, and his Dad's family. I am so happy that they were able to have that experience. Laurie is a brave woman, and I am so thankful for that because Trenton and I were desperate for a vacation. Emma had so much fun traveling with her Grandma that she didn't want to come home today...and that's just fine with me. I'd rather that than her being attached at my hip. Just in the few days Ben picked up some speed in his crawling/scooting and can get from one side of the room to the other in no time.

While they were away, Trenton went boating with his brother and then we went to Estes Park with Shannon, Steve, Autum, and Matt. My dad put us up in his timeshare and we had fun just goofing around Estes. It rained most of the time, but no one seemed to care.

We went to this adorable Christmas shop that had everything you could think of...including Trenton's favorite- a lit wreathe made entirely of shotgun shells.
It was the perfect day to visit the Stanley Hotel. Very spooky.

And in other news...Ben is much more confident standing. I bet he'll be cruising this week.

It was fun to have the break, but we are both so happy to have our babies home, safe and sound.

Summer Weddings and Swimming Lessons

Trenton and I were lucky enough to get invited to one of the most elegant weddings I've ever attended at the Briarhurst Manor in Manitou Springs. It was especially sweet because that is where Trenton proposed to me in July 2004. The decorations were gorgeous (they had a dropped ceiling made of pearls!) and the food was delicious, and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. I love summer weddings.

This is where he proposed, in a white lit, tree blanketed gazebo that was sprinkled with multi-colored rose petals.

In other news, Emma started swimming lessons last week. I've never seen her so excited about anything before. Her favorite part was the Little Mermaid goggles Aunt Shanny brought her. She wore them for several days straight. I had to be sure she wasn't wearing them at night so her eyes would have a chance to breathe.
Trenton has almost finished our deck. It's so much done that we were able to have Shannon and Steve over for dinner al fresco. I promise we'll finish it this week and I'll post pictures.
Love,
Janet, Trenton, Emma, and Ben

The Zoo

Emma is a seasoned vet of the zoo, but this was Ben's first trip. When we gave him the cracker to feed the giraffe, his first response was to give it a little taste...

I love the expression on the giraffe's face.
