Halloween 2011

Our family usually visits Casa Bonita around Christmas or for my birthday. Somehow we had never managed to get there when the restaurant was decked out in Halloween decorations. It was so much fun! They turned the section of the restaurant that has the haunted cave, gift shop, and puppet show into a very spooky (even a little scary for me) haunted house. After Casa Bonita, we all stayed at a hotel in Denver, went swimming, and went to IKEA. The hotel was within walking distance from Trenton's work, so he even got to sleep in a little.

I had a very busy Halloween! We spent the morning at the hospital. I finally had my appointment with the orthopedic surgeon (I don't think I mentioned on my blog that I had fractured my arm by falling down the stairs. I actually did more damage to the nerves surrounding the elbow, which will require surgery after the baby is born. It could have been much worse- so I'm not complaining.) Immediately following that appointment I met with my OB for a routine visit- everything looked great. The best part of the day was when I had to go to the humane society to pay a bill. It was Halloween- and they were having a sale on cats. I used all the self restraint I had, but Emma melted down right in front of the entire staff, insisting through tears that if we didn't save a cat they were going to kill them all. Obviously this wouldn't have worked on me if I hadn't been slightly considering a buddy for our other cat, Lexie. Plus, it was Halloween- and we found the PERFECT cat...

Before you call the show "Animal Hoarders" on me, just know that this is the last animal to join our family (except for a fish...maybe). Emma has named her "Pumpkin Pie". She's tiny like a kitten, but full-grown. The vet guessed that she's around 1 or 2. She is extremely snuggly and sweet, but shortly after we brought her home she began showing signs of Feline Upper Respiratory Disease, which runs rampant at the pound. After a very expensive trip to the vet for both our cats, Pumpkin is still very sick. Is it silly that I ask for prayers regarding our cat?

Anyway- later that evening we joined Hannah for some door-to-door trick-or-treating. Emma was excited, of course, but Ben lost his mind from being so thrilled! For the entire week following Halloween he would beg me to take him trick-or-treating. Although it sounded more like, "Choo-choo-treat."

We also joined Tad and Linsey for some Pumpkin Chucking. Tad actually got a Pumpkin in one of the bins and won a free helicopter ride!

On Saturday my Mom threw a Halloween party. Trenton painted all the kids' faces- and took the job very seriously.

Isn't my bearded lady a fox?

I was mother nature, but I forgot the rest of my costume at home, and failed to get pictures on Halloween.

Do you see the pumpkin on the top in the middle? Trenton wouldn't let me see his pumpkin until he was done carving it. I was nervous he was going to do something nasty, but it turned out he was carving me a pregnant belly with a baby inside. How wonderful is that? It's hard to see in this picture, but the belly is even sporting an outy belly-button! I love, love, LOVE that man! I mean...Bearded lady.

More Estrogen

We are thrilled to be welcoming another little girl into our home...

Everything that was going wrong with this pregnancy has corrected itself. I no longer have placenta previa, my platelets are slowly improving, and all the scary episodes of bleeding have nearly disappeared. I am no longer on bed rest, and my morning sickness has...well...that's still hanging around. But with everything else behind me, I can finally take some time to daydream about who this little girl is going to be. Thank you so much to everyone that has prayed and fasted on our behalf. I know we are being blessed and I can't deny all the heavenly help we've received since my miscarriages last year.

This picture was taken at 20 weeks. I am now going on 22 weeks. It's crazy to think that I'll be considered full-term in 15 weeks. Although, that still feels like a lifetime.

Until next time,
Janet, Trenton, Emma, and Ben
