Easter 2014

Christmas and Easter are officially my favorite holidays.  Not just for obvious reasons, but because Heather and Tim bring their family out for a visit.  The kids had such a wonderful Easter with their cousins.  They were also spoiled by the Easter Bunny, aunts, uncles, and both grandmas.  Thanks to everyone that made it a special holiday for my babies.

Emma was so cute getting ready for bed the night before Easter.  She left a note for the EB, and even insisted we light a candle so he could find his way.  I especially love that the treats are sitting on a jack-o-lantern plate.

Spring Break

Oh boy, did we have a busy spring break.  We didn't plan any fancy vacations, but it was a pretty special couple of weeks.  There is nothing quite so heavenly as a break from tight schedules, school, and extra curricular activities.  We spent the first few days sleeping in and not caring at all weather or not we went anywhere.  We swam, ate junk food, watched movies, went to the library, and played at the park.  I am so grateful for the opportunity to stay home with our kids.  The second weekend of their break, Laurie took Emma and Ben to Nebraska, while Trenton and I stayed home and updated my parents' family room and kitchen.

Here are some "before" pictures of my parents' kitchen and family room.

"After"

In addition to the updates at the Parr house, there were some hidden problems lurking back at our rental home.  Unfortunately, a pipe burst in the master shower, causing a leak through the garage.  When Trenton pushed on the tiles in the shower, he realized they were completely soft and waterlogged.  He was forced to rip the entire shower out.  It was especially frustrating because that pipe had just recently been replaced.  On top of the shower leak, the pipe connecting the dishwasher to the sink disposal became disconnected and caused a leak in the kitchen, which completely ruined the linoleum.  I am so, incredibly thankful I married a man that is so handy and capable.  We would be in big trouble if he weren't.  At least all this disaster decided to happen simultaneously.  If we're going to be dirty, we might as well get really dirty.

Trenton and I enjoyed what free time we had with our sweet Lyla.  She soaked up every last drop of our undivided attention while Emma and Ben were with Grandma.

Lyla may have enjoyed the time with just us, but she's not complete without her big brother and sister.  It was a very happy reunion.
