And So It Begins

I am starting this blog in an effort to bridge the gap of physical distance that stands between our friends and relatives. I think it will be a fun way to keep a family journal and share any news with extended family and friends.  For those of you that have missed the last several years of our lives, I will try to fill you in. Trenton Paul Schlosser and I met in high school. The two of us kind of had a love/hate relationship for many years until I moved to England after my first year of college to "find myself", and Trenton followed to find me. We traveled Europe, ate ravioli in Italy and croissants in France and managed to fall in love. Didn't you know that all you have to do to fall in love is eat croissants in Paris? Anyway, we soon returned and dated for a year, were engaged for another and got married in the LDS Denver temple on April 9th, 2005. We honeymooned in Mexico and lived happily ever after...

Well, that's what we tell Emma for her bedtime story at least. Isn't it amazing how romantic life can appear when certain details are strategically omitted? Trenton and I have been married for almost three years. Many fights, make-ups, dates, and one baby later, we are here. Can you believe it? On December 17th, 2007 Emma Lanae Schlosser was born. She is an adorable little blondie with a darling, gentle personality. She's been an "easy baby", which is good and bad, as everyone assures me she'll be a handful as a teenager to compensate. The birth went beautifully, if you omit the unbearable pain, gallons of gross bodily fluids, and the two epidurals that DIDN'T WORK! I was in labor for four hours after being induced and got to meet my little turtle at 4:39 p.m. Not a moment too soon, as I was beginning to hallucinate that the Yanomamo tribe was conducting a ceremonial "Rite of Passage" dance in my honor around the hospital bed. Oh wait...that was my mom doing the Hula to "Mela Kalikimaka " right there in the hospital room! The latter was no hallucination. Trenton and I felt so loved as many of our friends and family visited little Emma in the hospital, and at our home. Thank you to all of you that offered love, support and most importantly food to us during that splendid and exhausting time.

Emma is growing beautifully, and she is almost two months old! At her last doctor's appointment she was 9lbs 8z, and about 22 inches long. She usually only wakes up once at night around 4 to eat, and sleeps until Trenton goes to work. She is starting to really kick her legs and smile...my favorite. Only recently she began "talking". It's funny too because she gets upset if you try to talk over her or play music when she's trying to communicate.  She is the yummiest little baby in the world.  I can't wait to see who she will be when she grows up.  I feel so lucky to be her mom.

I love you all!
Until next time-
Janet
