Laurie gave us such a sweet Christmas eve this year. It was even more special because Trenton's grandparents were able to be there, and it started snowing as we were driving over. The kids were buzzing with excitement and couldn't wait to open presents. I'm pretty sure Lyla's excitement was more surrounding all the glorious food. At one point, Laurie had all the kids line up so that she could ask them which animals they loved the most when they had visited the zoo with her earlier in the month. Then she had them open the most adorable animal printed pillows and blankets that she made for each one of them. Lucky kids. This year Tate and I got the, "Be Careful What You Wish For..." gifts. I got a crocheted CU football helmet that I had jokingly said I wanted last summer at Ben's birthday party. And Tate got custom Dora jammies. It was awesome. Patti introduced us to a fun game. She brought a gift that had been boxed and wrapped 3 times. The first person that could get through the paper with oven mitts on got to keep the present inside. We all had a shot at it, and Laurie made a dent, but it was my man that won the prize...twenty bucks and a bunch of suckers. Sweet!
Once we got home, we continued the tradition of getting the cookies ready for Santa and the apple and carrots for his reindeer. Trenton read them their story and it was off to bed for a long winter's nap. Before going to sleep, we let the kids cuddle with the animals in our bed for a little while. Emma noticed that it was snowing harder and got downright giddy. At that point, there was no question that we'd wake up to a white Christmas!
Santa did not disappoint this year.
