My sister’s mother in law, Carol Foote, passed away unexpectedly last July. She was so much more to our entire family than an in-law. We all affectionately called her “Mama Foote” and we couldn’t get enough of her famous gazpacho and maple nut loaf. My kids love her, and we are all heartbroken over the loss of her. We went to Aspen for her funeral, and it was a beautiful service. While we were up there we visited Maroon Bells. The world is so quiet and beautiful up there, I can actually hear my own heart beating. I love hiking in the mountains because your body moves so much, stretching and working all its muscles. But your mind is so peacefully still. We also spent a day at the Hot Springs in Glenwood. This summer wrapped its arms around us like a warm blanket just out of the dryer. The kids went back to school at the end of July, so we squeezed every last drop out of that weekend that we could.
