Six Months

Lyla is six months now.  At her checkup she weighed 14 pounds and measured 25 inches long, which puts her in the 25th percentile for weight and 45th for height.  Her tiny little pea-head is still not on the charts, so the doctor technically diagnosed her with microcephaly, but he doesn't have any true concern because she is hitting all her milestones and there is still a trend of growth.  This isn't really news to me since I was visiting a perinatologist during my pregnancy because her head was measuring too small in the ultrasounds.  She's such a miraculous little baby and already loves to prove people wrong.

She's such a sweet natured baby.  She is sitting now and loves to get on her hands and knees to try and crawl.  She's not quite there yet, but it's not far off.  She laughs a lot...big squealing giggles.  She is eating a wide variety of fruits and veggies now (but she really despises anything green) and she holds her own bottle.  She's very silly and knows when she's being funny.  She has even learned to blow raspberries.  She's very chubby and has lots of yummy little rolls on her arms and legs.

Trenton and I are so lucky to share her with each other and with her brother and sister.  She is the most precious little breath of life you could ever imagine.  From the moment she wakes up, Emma is excited to play with Lyla.  She waits impatiently until we both hear the baby stirring, and runs in front of me to steal Lyla's first morning smile.  The girly playing goes on throughout the day. One of Emma's favorite things to do is dance with her baby sister.
