Benny's 4th Birthday

I'm still not quite sure how it happened so fast, but Little Man turned 4 last week.  My sister warned me that if I keep feeding my kids, they will grow.

To celebrate, we did our usual day at Fox Run and thankfully, after almost 2 weeks straight of torrential downpours and statewide flooding, the weather was warm, sunny, with only white, fluffy clouds in the sky.  The rain did give us plenty of velvety, green grass to sink our feet in though.

This year, Ben requested hotdogs for is birthday lunch.  So we had a hotdog bar, complete with every topping and hotdog combination I could come up with.  Ben was all about dinosaurs this time around.  So he got a dinosaur cake, dinosaur cookies, and even a dinosaur piƱata.

Once most of the family and friends packed up and left, Ben, who was a giggly, sweaty, worn out mess, crawled in my arms and thanked me for giving him the best birthday ever.  My goodness this boy is my world!

We took a little walk around the lakes before heading home and it was my absolute favorite time of day.  I love the way the sun makes the leaves glow in the early evening. We continued the birthday awesomeness by watching Stephen play some football.  Ben looks up to him in every way, so it was a special way to finish up a special day.

Unfortunately, as we were heading home, Trenton started having a major allergy attack and Emma had fallen and was complaining of excruciating pain in her elbow.  I was worried that Trenton was going to stop breathing and that Emma had broken a bone.  It was so stressful and chaotic that it wasn't until Sunday night that we realized we had forgotten to let Ben open his birthday presents from us!

Trenton was too sick to come downstairs, so we all crawled into bed and watched Ben open his gifts before heading off to sleep.  I'm so grateful he's a patient boy.

Happy Birthday, my most sweet and precious 4 year old Benny!  We love you so much!

Planes

A week before Benny's birthday, Trenton and Grandma Laurie took the kids to see the movie Planes.  As if that weren't awesome enough, we took them to the Airplane restaurant after.  But the wait to actually get a seat in the plane was way too long for all our hungry tummies.  So we let the kids explore a little and then hightailed it to Chick-fil-a.

Kindergarten 2013

Miss Emma is officially a Kindergartner!  I don't know if there was ever such an excited, eager little five year old.  She came bursting into this life with so much ability to adapt and learn, and I just know school is going to be a positive experience for her.

Trenton took the day off and walked his baby girl to school.  She looked back at me right after I took this picture and gave me the cutest little wave goodbye.

Emma's teacher is very sweet.  Mrs. Rogers and Emma bonded over their glasses.  I would be lying if I didn't find it a little scary- letting her loose in the world.  The parent child roles were temporarily reversed as she reassured me that everything would be just fine.  This little girl has been such an inspiration since the first day she started teaching me to be a mom.  Gosh I love her.
