Preschool, the Tooth Fairy, and Influenza

I was forced to deal with more milestones in one week than my heart could handle.  Our sweet baby Ben started preschool at Magical Minds and Emma lost her first tooth!

Ben knew what was coming because he watched his sister walk into the same preschool 3 days a week, last year.  He was bubbling with excitement the entire morning, but got a little nervous on the drive over.  Once Miss Maydra showed him where to put his backpack in his very own cubby, he was excited again.  He looked up at me and said, "Okay Mom.  I'm fine. You can go now."  After the first day he was already filled with knowledge about the appropriate way to sit (Criss-Cross Apple Sauce) and different types of dinosaurs!

One of the kids favorite things to do is jump out of the car after school and see if their friends next door can play.  Their favorite game is dress-up and I walked out to find this.  It's not Halloween...just a random Wednesday.

On Friday, Emma finally lost the tooth that she's been busy wiggling for a couple months now.  I didn't cry when she went to preschool, or on her first day of Kindergarten, but you better believe I got teary eyed when she lost her first tooth.  Best of all, the Tooth Fairy brought her $2!  Exciting stuff around our house.

Unfortunately, with the kids in school, illness has been playing a pretty active role in our lives.  All three kids got croup caused by influenza. And all three kids had their flu shots. So immunized or not- I have a feeling this winter of sickness is going to be bad a bad one. After a middle of the night ER visit for Benny and 3 straight days of puke, snot, and screaming- this Mama might just start crying right along with them.
