4th of July 2010

We squeezed every last, juicy drop out of the 4th of July this year. It was the quintessential watermelon eating, grill blazing, chlorine filled, fire crackling, Popsicle stained holiday. We started the weekend with a bike ride, a family breakfast, a movie and then a BBQ back at our house. Shannon and Steve were nice enough to host us all at their home on Sunday.

"You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4th, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics, where children throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism."

Trenton did have a run-in with the road.  He let the road have it, though.

Poor Shanny. She is not yet 6 months pregnant and her back is already giving her more trouble than that of 10 pregnant women...combined. She's the only lady I know that can look that good and be in so much pain. You go girl.

Happy 4th of July!

This is how Ben reacted to the fireworks. Poor little guy. He was completely freaked out. He pulled it together a little later though and actually began to enjoy himself.

We got to enjoy the company (and by company I mostly mean yummy food) of Carol and Judy. Norman was out back keeping Trenton and Steve company as they grilled.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!

Love,
Janet, Trenton, Emma, and Ben
