Christmas Eve 2014

Christmas was especially exciting for all of us this year, because Heather and Tim's family came and stayed with us for the week.  I always hated when they would stay at my mom's because I barely got to see them.  But with them in our house, we were blessed to enjoy their company in the morning, during the downtime throughout the day, and we were able to have those late night conversations just before heading off to bed.  With the attention from their aunt, uncle, and cousins, the kids were in heaven.  There was always something going on, and always someone to play with them.  Emma and Ashley were like two peas in a pod.  They had so much fun having tea parties, playing barbies, and doing each other's nails and hair.  It was very sweet.  The boys had fun too- but I think the part they enjoyed most was just being able to relax, not worry or even think about school.  Heather and I had a little too much fun doing some last minute Christmas shopping.  We walked down memory lane and shared an Orange Julius by the fountain at the Citadel Mall- just like we did when I was little.  The night before Christmas Eve, we went to our favorite girly place, Montague's, to celebrate Heather's Birthday.  It was snowing that night- making it that much more special to sit by the fire and drink peppermint bark flavored herbal tea.

On Christmas Eve, we headed over to Laurie's to have dinner and open presents with Trenton's family.  It was as wonderful as always.  Laurie works so hard to make sure we have a beautiful meal and that the kids are spoiled.  She made adorable mermaid blankets for the girls and dinosaur blankets for the boys.  Their excitement was precious.  After the traditional Fleetwood Mac dance party, we went home to continue with our own tradition of reading "The Night Before Christmas" and opening our Christmas jammies.
