8 Months

Eight months has been a very productive month for Lyla.  She has learned to crawl, now says "Dada" and other two syllable sounds, blows raspberries, and makes a silly scrunchy-faced sound where she breathes in and out really fast.  What's funny about it is that she does it to a get a reaction from us...like it's clicked in her sweet little head that she can entertain us.  I had to post a picture of her precious little baby head because I'm proud of it.  As of her eighth month, her head circumference is on the growth chart, which means that she is no longer considered microcephalic.  This ends a very worry filled chapter of our lives.

Lyla started pulling herself up to a standing position about a week ago.  Then today, she decided it was time to cruise along the furniture.  Oh boy!

Mornings

Every morning, I usually pull Lyla into bed with me for her morning bottle.  It's our time to cuddle without any other distractions.  It's the rare 30 minutes we have during the day to do nothing other than look at each other...to breathe each other...for her to look up at me and grab my nose and for me notice how long her eye lashes have grown.  But this particular morning, Emma opened her eyes a little earlier than normal and sleepily crawled into bed with us.  Thankfully- I had been sifting through pictures on my camera the night before, so it was sitting on the nightstand, just close enough to capture this preciousness. It's only times like this that I feel badly that Benny is such a good sleeper.

Halloween 2012

Emma, Ben, and Lyla officially have the best grandparents in the world.  Laurie put together a Halloween party for the kids, complete with their favorite Ham balls for dinner, a ghost craft, and cookies to decorate. Then my mom had us over the next night to carve pumpkins.  We went with simple jack-o-lanterns this year.  They make me happy.

On Halloween, my friend Julia and I had a fun time helping with Emma's school party.  The kids made spider cookies, played "Pin the Nose on the Jack-o-Lantern", had their faces painted by Julia, and decorated cookies.  What more could a 4 year old ask for?

We kicked Halloween off at Doug and Christy's trunk or treat, followed by trick or treating in their neighborhood.  After putting the kids to bed, Trenton and I ended our Halloween with some pumpkin gnocchi and a spooky movie.  Perfection.
